The story goes that a bay passed through the area. Upon entering the village, he became intoxicated and decided to light his pipe, but the tobacco could not burn well. Thus, while the bey was engulfed in the flames, he passed unnoticed through the whole village and only looked around when he reached its end.
The Ottoman was very surprised at how quickly he managed to cross the borders of the village, where he exclaimed: “What a small village – how much a pipe burns!” Since then, the legend has lived hand in hand with the new name.
